Every Rose…

They say every rose has its thorn and I think it’s important to remember and accept that no-one is perfect, including ourselves, no dynamic is perfect and no relationship is perfect. That even the lush beauty of the rose petals is balanced by the sharp sting of its thorns.

I think, however, that this acceptance of ourselves, and others, can teach us that imperfections, struggles or flaws can absolutely exist alongside something as beautiful as the rose and do not detract from the beauty that exists there. We can be flawed in many pointed ways, and still be worthy of love, from ourselves and others.

I also think that, in amongst the thorns of life, it’s always worth looking for the petals as they will be there. I’d like to believe that every difficult situation or struggle will have its positives if we look for them. That every person will carry their petals amongst their thorns. And for ourselves, learning how to hold our own thorns with care and grace will allow our beautiful petals to bloom.

Boobday is a body-positive meme where women share images of their bodies in order to show that there is beauty in all of us.  With confidence comes power and with power comes confidence.

Kis I love reading your analogy about the rose and accepting the beauty of ourselves (with flaws, imperfections and perfections).

And, yes, the image is quite beautiful as well. The rose is placed spectacularly.

Very true…not always easy, but true. It’s interesting though as I’ve found people who do, even when I don’t love or accept myself, so I don’t think it’s always a given that the reverse is also true.

Well, in my case, I’m been successful in reciprocity by and large because I love me, much more than all beings on Earth. But I have known people struggling with self love and/or acceptance, who had difficulties in their relation b/c they didn’t believe others who did feel that way for them. It just became a sticking point. Ugh.

I think that must be a wonderful thing, you are really blessed. Trusting you are worth it to others can be hard when you don’t always believe you are.
